VPN companies cut prices harder around Black Friday than at any other time of the year. In 2025 the first deals went live in mid October and most ran into December. What to expect in 2026
No VPN has announced its 2026 Black Friday price yet. Last year NordVPN and Surfshark started in October, Proton VPN and ExpressVPN closer to Black Friday week. For NordVPN, Proton VPN and ExpressVPN the 2025 Black Friday price was their lowest of the year, so the table is a good yardstick: a 2026 deal at or below these numbers is a real Black Friday deal, anything clearly above is not.
Before you buy a VPN on Black Friday
- Look at the up-front price, not the monthly one. The low monthly figure only applies if you pay for two years at once.
- Check what it renews at. After the deal period the plan renews at the regular price. Proton VPN, for example, renewed at $79.95 a year after its 2025 deal. Turn off auto-renewal if you want to wait for the next sale.
- Already a customer? NordVPN lets existing customers add time at the new-customer deal price before their plan ends, which avoids the renewal price.
- Use the money-back guarantee. All four offered 30 days in 2025. Test speed and the streaming services you care about in the first week.
- Start with the cheapest tier. The higher tiers add a password manager, antivirus or cloud storage. Only worth it if you would pay for those anyway.
