What lifetime really means
- The lifetime of the product, not yours. If the company shuts down or drops the plan, the license ends. Prefer tools that have been around for a few years and have paying subscribers.
- Read the tier limits. Lifetime plans often cap users, sites or monthly credits. AI tools in particular run on credits that can run out quickly.
- Use the refund window. AppSumo gives 60 days on most deals. Test the tool properly in that time, not just the sign-up.
- Do the math against the subscription. A lifetime price that equals two years of the normal plan pays off from year three. Below that it is a bet on the company.
